Ideal Growing Conditions for String of Stars Plant

palmeraplants

Light

This plant appreciates sunlight, though it can handle some partial shade. Keep your plant indoors on south or southeastern windows.

Soil

Use well-draining soil for growing this succulent, though it can grow well in dry, poor soil as well. You have to use a commercial potting mix made for succulents and cacti.

Water

This succulent can tolerate drought, but it does not imply that you keep the soil bone dry. Water the plant when the topsoil turns dry up to 1 inch; this rule applies from spring to fall. You have to reduce watering in winter; just keep the soil moist to avoid wilting.

Temperature

String of Stars can tolerate temperatures as low as possible, 35-50 F.

Fertilizer

Feed this Euphorbia once a week in the growing season with balanced liquid fertilizer in a 10-10-10 NPK ratio, and dilute it to 1/4 strength. Avoid feeding the plant in winter.

Repotting

Avoid repotting this succulent every year; if Euphorbia has outgrown its container, you have to repot it in a one-size larger pot filled with fresh potting mix.

Pests and Diseases

Spider mites can attack your plant; these unnoticeable pests look like little flecks of yellow, red, or green on plants. You can treat them using an insecticidal soap or using a jet of water. You can read this post to learn about early signs of spider mites here.

Toxicity

Do remember all Euphorbia plants contain a toxic milky sap that can irritate the eyes and skin. Hence, keeping this plant away from kids and pets will be better.
