How to Keep Mini Roses from the Grocery Store Alive

1. Leave the roses in the pot they came in

If you want to showcase them in something other than their plastic container, put them inside a large pot, and do not disturb the plant until they are done blooming. In simple terms, avoid disturbing the roots.

2. Keep the plant in a sunny area

Place the containers on a sunny windowsill as roses love sunshine. Move them to an area next to the window in the afternoon. Keep the soil moist but don’t overwater.

3. Move the plants outdoors once they are done blooming

Once the flowering is done, move the plants outdoors or transplant them to pots and water well.

4. Line the bottom of the container with tiny rocks

If your container has drainage holes, it is not essential to line the bottom with small rocks. Do not allow the plant to stand in water, as it can lead to root rot.

5. Turn the pot upside down and take out the roses

Fill the pot with good-quality soil, and turn the previous pot upside down after ensuring the roots are not pot-bound. Plant it and cover the root ball with more soil.

6. Remove the dead twigs

Examine your mini rose bush; if it has some dead twigs, discard them. They are not going to sprout. If the stems are leafless but still green and alive, they will produce leaves again.

7. Once again, keep the pot in a sunny area and water it well

Place the pot on a sunny windowsill or spot during the morning and move it next to the window in the afternoon. When the weather turns warm and the danger of frost is gone, move containers outdoors to a sunny position.
